The world-renowned Rose Gardens located in Gorst Street, across from the Te Awamutu information centre, contains large formal beds housing over 2000 rose bushes that display a variety of over 50 different types of rose species!
If you visit the gardens in the summer months, you will be astounded by the full impact of all the roses in full bloom. Public access to the gardens is available at all hours and admission is free.

The Te Awamutu War Memorial Park was opened in 1955 in honour of the men and women of the area who had served during the Second World War.
The park includes a duck pond, fountain, playground, paved walkways leading to open lawns which are suitable for picnicking and events. A sunken memorial garden framed by an ornamental stone wall can be found a short distance into the park, dedicated to those who gave their lives in World War 2.
The park is also part of the Pioneer Walk, which starts by the Te Awamutu Sculpture Park and includes the Te Awamutu Rose Gardens.
Those after a challenge will be enticed by the activity spaces available within Centennial Park.
A newly built skatepark and parkour space will keep the adventurous active for hours! From beginner to expert, the skatepark was designed for all ability levels.

Explore Te Awamutu by foot, meandering your way along the web of walking and hiking tracks that are scattered throughout the Waipa District.
Enjoy the easy 15-minute Pioneer Walk from Sculpture Park to the Memorial Park near Te Awamutu’s CBD or visit the lush nature reserves within easy reach around the town’s perimeter.
No matter your fitness level, you’ll find a walking or hiking track to suit your needs.
